What items do you make instead of buy?

I thought we could start a list of your favorite items that you make instead of buying at the store.

Bonus if you have the recipe.

I think the item I make the most instead of buying is seasoning mixes.

Here’s one for a Bisquick Mix Clone

Bisquick mix

6 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup vegetable shortening

Add everything except shortening in food processor bowl. Pulse ingredients for about 15 seconds.
Add the vegetable shortening and pulse the processor until the mixture resembles cornmeal. Place homemade Bisquick into an airtight container and store within the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Yields 7 cups

Note: You can cut in the shortening with a pastry blender, too.

Currently do:
cinnamon/sugar
Italian seasoning
garlic salt, onion salt, celery salt, cilantro lime salt
salted basil, jalapenos, cilantro
biscuits
single rise white bread (uses yogurt)
brown sugar
ranch dressing mix
curry powder

Not currently doing, but have:
yogurt
pesto
granola

Would likely make if needed:
powdered sugar

Tried/failed:
french fries
hash browns (Don’t like either of my HM potato products, so I keep buying frozen.)
sourdough (Multiple times, over years, it always goes bad.)

I do regular cooking.

Gabe has been making homemade pizzas again. They’re delicious.
He uses a pizza dough recipe that has 7-up in it.

We’ve made HM pizza, dough and sauce. Don’t ever buy soda, so it would never occur to me to use 7 up (can you find it still? None here these days,) in pizza dough.

I would never have considered pop in pizza dough, but it makes all the difference in his dough. He’s tried all different types of dough recipes and that’s the one that was voted the best texture and flavor when we all tried the different doughs. It rises better and the texture is much nicer. He’s used Sprite too.
