Oh dear. Yes. The heat is on over here. The temperatures are low and it was needed. I didn’t want to. Told people to put on a sweater, but it was too cold to hold out much longer. LOL
Fall goes by quickly here in Michigan. Words can’t describe how much I hate winter. It won’t be as bad as last year when I had to travel in the snow a lot, but still…I’m dreading it so much. I want to get some wood for the fireplace to make it bearable.
I get through winter by rewarding myself with treats like hot cocoa with extra yummy stuff added, winter indoor s’mores, baking more, fires in the fireplace, warm blankets, good movies and hopefully some reading. But it’s soooooo long. It always takes forever for spring.
For those of you in states that get the big piles of snow, how do you get through it?
It’s not the cold that bothers me so much as the lack of sunlight. I have a Litebook I use in winter when it’s shorter days. That helps my disposition quite a bit.
As for activities, I try to exercise every day, preferably outside. But if that’s not safe, and it often isn’t because in our city no one shovels their walks, we go walking in malls.
I also do YouTube exercise workout videos.
And for fun? I work on a variety of hobbies and projects. I have never been accused of having too few hobbies!!!
Tally… you do have the most wonderful hobbies. I am in awe of all you can do!
Sara… I share you hatred of winter and cold. And to think that when we retired, we moved back north again! What were we thinking? Oh yeah… we moved up here so that we could care for my parents… which we are doing. And while glad to have that opportunity, I sure miss living where it was a wee bit warmer.
We turned on the furnace a day ago. It’s weird for us: we like to sleep in mid 60s temperatures. So while we needed to turn on the furnace yesterday to warm up the house, we turned it off at night.
I hate the cold. I’ve always said that I will wash ziplock baggies before I turn down my heat! I’m in MA, so we do get a fair amount of snow and cold. I keep my heat at 70 and it goes on as soon as I get cold - which for me was about 2 weeks ago. I also keep a down comforter on the bed and wear a sweatshirt around the house.
It’s 64 in here today and it is chilly, but not heat temperature yet. I pulled out the blankets for the beds and told everyone to dig out their sweatshirts. I really, REALLY want to make it until November, but the forecast isn’t looking great for the rest of October with regards to warmth!
